move_file is the only tool that takes two paths, so it's the one that could move a file out of allowedDirectories or pull one in. moveFile() already validates both the source and the destination, but the suite doesn't pin that: test-move-file.js covers move/rename mechanics only, and test-allowed-directories.js covers single-path validatePath only. This adds a regression test that a move is refused when the destination is outside the allowed directories (and when the source is), with a positive control for an in-bounds move. Test-only; no product code changed. Ran npm test locally — the new test and the existing move/allowed-directories tests pass. Happy to adjust naming or placement to fit your conventions.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Expanded automated checks for file moves involving allowed directories. The checks cover successful moves within permitted locations and rejected moves that cross the allowed-directory boundary, including verifying that rejected operations do not move or create files. Temporary test data and configuration are restored after the checks complete in all cases.

…paths

move_file is the only tool that takes two paths, so it is the one that could
move a file out of allowedDirectories or pull one in. moveFile() already
validates both the source and the destination with validatePath(), but the
suite does not pin that: test-move-file.js covers move/rename mechanics only,
and test-allowed-directories.js covers single-path validatePath only.

Add a regression test that a move is refused when the destination is outside
the allowed directories (and when the source is), with a positive control for
an in-bounds move. Test-only; no product code changed.

Walkthrough

Adds a test for move_file authorization with allowedDirectories. The test checks moves within the allowed directory and rejects moves across its boundary.

Move authorization test

The test verifies that a move within the allowed directory succeeds. It checks that moves out of and into the allowed directory return errors and leave the source and destination files unchanged. It restores configuration and removes temporary directories in finally.

Comment thread test/test-move-file-authorization.js Resolved
The move_file authorization test replaces allowedDirectories in config, so
running it directly with `node` instead of through the runner could touch the
real ~/.claude-server-commander config. Guard it with isTestHome() and skip
when not in a runner-created test home, and lazy-import config-manager and the
filesystem handler after the guard, matching the convention every other
config-mutating test in the suite already follows (e.g.
test-default-shell-consistency.js).

Test harness only; the assertions are unchanged.
