Retire a deleted pending Suspense range together with its hydration subscription and discard its late server segment instead of retaining the old fiber or transport DOM.
hydrate(pending boundary)
+ own the complete server marker range- register an uncancellable reveal callback+ retain the registration's identity-checked disposer+ dispose failed preparation on commit rollback
replace children / remove boundary / unmount root
+ release the subscription when the range retires+ remove fallback, placeholder and owned markers
late reveal
- return before cleanup if the boundary disappeared+ delete any remaining registration and discard the orphan segment
real readable-stream regressions
keep boundary → original button commits an effect and increments on click
replace boundary / replace its children / unmount root
registry becomes empty before resolution
original sibling remains adopted when retained
complete late stream leaves no obsolete primary content or segment
subscription ownership
retiring an old subscription cannot delete its replacement
an already-saved callback cannot retry a deleted fiber
The previous runtime fails both deletion cases with the callback still registered, and it returns no disposer for the subscription-ownership check.
Fixed hydration behavior when pending Suspense boundaries are removed, replaced, or retargeted. Late server reveals no longer restore deleted content, and unaffected sibling content remains intact.
Improved cleanup of boundary reveal registrations so clearing an older registration does not interfere with a newer one.
Ensured revealed content continues to hydrate and respond to interactions when its boundary remains active.

Walkthrough
The change adds cleanup for reveal registrations and pending server ranges when a Suspense boundary is deleted. It also guards against late reveals, adds hydration tests, and updates package size allowances and the patch changeset.
Changes: Pending Suspense boundary cleanup
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Server reveal registration cleanup packages/redact/src/server/bootstrap-script.ts
$RH returns a conditional unsubscribe function. $RC and $RB clear pending callbacks when the fallback is absent. $RC also removes a staging element.
Suspense hydration stores the reveal disposer and registers it for commit rollback. Boundary recovery queues disposal before clearing the range, and removeFiber invokes the callback when removing a Suspense fiber. Reveal callbacks skip fibers that are unmounted or pending deletion. The pending-boundary check accepts start markers beginning with $?.
Validation and release accounting tests/pending-boundary-deletion.test.tsx, scripts/size-check.mjs, .changeset/pending-boundary-deletion.md
Tests cover pending-boundary deletion, late reveals, and replacement subscriptions. The size checks add source and built gzip allowances for the hydration-stub client and server entries. The changeset declares a patch release.
TanStack/redact#103: Changes pending Suspense hydration to retain the server transport range and register its reveal callback.
TanStack/redact#104: Changes the transport contract for boundary and segment IDs and the $RH, $RC, $RR, and $RB paths.

Dispose registrations when commit preparation fails.
If a later sibling fails hydration after $RH registers, prepareCommit runs the failure queue but does not run this rollback callback. Failed preparation can restore the previous child list, so root removal cannot reach the abandoned boundary. Its reveal registration then retains the boundary until the server segment arrives, potentially indefinitely. Register dispose with onCommitFailure as well as onCommitRollback. Thanks for the cleanup work here. The current change is passing the local checks, including the completed streaming browser control. The exact size allowance and normal CI/review gates still remain before landing.
AI review notes: The runtime and regression changes were tested without the proposed size-limit increases. All 2,091 tests passed, with 91 skipped, along with types, build and actual package verification.
The actual candidate package and React passed all 24 complete-document keep/replace/retarget/unmount cases across Chromium, Firefox and WebKit. This uses real readable SSR and the supported bootstrapScriptContent path, observes the root commit while the document is loading, then releases independent client/server gates. The normal reveal retains the server button and click behavior; deletion cleans up the late transport and preserves the sibling. No page or recoverable errors were observed. Published 0.3.0 leaves late transport after unmount in all three engines.
Earlier completed-document and tiny-shell harness failures are retained as verifier evidence, not product findings. This is bounded renderer coverage, not every framework. Five fixed limits and the comparative size gate still need the exact allowance, and the hosted workflow still needs its normal checks. This is not a merge or release.

Cleanup after a stylesheet-gated reveal ($RR) is rejected depends on the prefixed two-ID protocol, so it belongs with fix: prefix streaming transport ids and reveal instructions #104.Change outline
The previous runtime fails both deletion cases with the callback still registered, and it returns no disposer for the subscription-ownership check.
